How the Legal Profession Charges You

Your local High Street Solicitors firm will generally charge you an hourly rate. Their hourly charges can be anything around £240.00 per hour (plus VAT) and they charge in increments of 15 minutes. 

That means that if you telephone them they will start charging from the minute they answer the telephone to you. If (for example) you speak to them for 5 minutes, that call has cost you £62.50 + VAT. If you speak to them for 16 minutes that call has cost you £125.00 + VAT. It's easy to see how your money can run away on simple tasks that they do for you.

At Affordable Family Law we only charge £90.00 an hour (in increments of 15 minutes) but we do not charge you VAT. Thus we are significantly cheaper than your average solicitors firm.​
